Privacy Notes

Data flow

• The extension runs only on https://web.whatsapp.com/*
• Voice-note audio is sent to OpenAI only after the user clicks Transcribe or Get to the point!
• When using Get to the point!, the transcript text is also sent to OpenAI for summarization
• Transcript and summary text may be cached in chrome.storage.local if caching is enabled
• The extension does not send data to a custom backend
• The extension does not retain raw audio after the transcription request completes

Stored locally

• OpenAI API key
• Selected transcription model
• Optional language hint
• Optional cached transcript text keyed by a local message fingerprint

Not stored

• WhatsApp credentials
• Raw voice-note audio
• Transcript data on any server controlled by this project

Third-party processing

When the user clicks Transcribe or Get to the point!, audio is uploaded to OpenAI’s transcription endpoint:

• https://api.openai.com/v1/audio/transcriptions

When using Get to the point!, the transcript text is additionally sent to:

• https://api.openai.com/v1/chat/completions (GPT-4o-mini for summarization)

Users should review OpenAI’s current API policies and retention terms before using the extension with sensitive audio.
